Project 365 - Day 6 - June 24, 2014

This. This face. This is the face of a guilty dog! She knows what she did, that's why she's giving me these eyes. Begging me not to take another look at the "surprise" she left on the bathroom floor (you missed the toilet, dog!)...she knows what she did was wrong. She knows she's a naughty dog! But....she also knows that I love her and that her punishment for pooping on my rug won't be too severe ;)...

Project 365 - I'm back!!!

So...I've realized that I haven't posted since May, and we're already almost completely through June...I know, I know, I suck!! I think I have good reason though (maybe?)...We celebrated my husband's 25th birthday on May 31st and then I've had a few photo sessions this month (June)...a newborn session, a couples session and then I'm finishing the edits from a past family session (it took them a little while to pick their favorites for printing!) so as you can see, I've been a little busy!

Today for my project 365 photo I was actually planning on doing a self-portrait (I did my makeup, attempted my hair, and wore something "nice") but no matter what I did, I just couldn't seem to capture the essence of me...

That's when I realized that "me" isn't getting all dressed up with my hair and makeup done. I don't do it on a regular basis (these days it's just on Sundays for church and Thursdays for "date night" with my husband) so when trying to really capture my essence, why would I get all "gussied up" if it's not something I do every day?!...With that being said, I AM a professional makeup artist (learned from the best in Hollywood!) as well as a licensed cosmetologist, so I really DO have a love and passion for hair and makeup, however, right now I'm also a mom to 2 sweet little girls who deserve my love and attention a little bit more than my hair and face (I DO think it's important to take care of your hair and skin, even if you're not making yourself up lol)...

Anyway...I changed out of those "nice" clothes and instead put on a shirt that I probably wear once a week due to comfort, as well as some of my workout pants and pulled my hair up into it's usual ponytail...Then, instead of "posing" I grabbed my 10 month old daughter (my 2 1/2 year old was off running errands with her dad, otherwise she'd be in these photos too!) and let the camera shoot away while on it's timer...Now THIS is ME. Mom who doesn't always have everything put together, whose house is usually a mess, with dinner being late to get to the table (if at all!) but who loves her children more than anything! This is ME.

I may try again in the future, to get a nice self-portrait, but for now, this will do. :)

Project 365 - Day 4 - May 28, 2014

Today, I came to a great realization...I have not had a bad day in a REALLY long time, and I mean LONG time. I don't know if that's good or bad because I've noticed that when things are really good for a while, it just means that things are going to get bad and you're going to need to remember those good times to push through it!..I hope and pray that the only reason I haven't had a bad day in a while is because I have a more positive attitude and choose to look at negative things that may be going on around me in a positive light rather than negatively!

Anyway, I had to get that little thought out.

After my gym workout this morning, I felt like today would be a great day to take the girls down to the river side to play in the water. That little activity, however, reminded me exactly why I very rarely take the girls to do something like that, by myself. There isn't enough of me to go around or to carry everything and everyone! (I managed it today though, and walking down hills no less!).

While we were playing in the water, we noticed a large gathering of butterflies in one particular spot next to the river. I'm pretty positive they were eating something that had died. Gross. But, they themselves are beautiful little creatures!

Project 365 - Day 3 - May 27, 2014

You're going to be seeing LOTS of pictures of my daughters over the course of this year because, believe it or not, I spend practically 24 hours a day with them!

Today was a hot, humid, sticky day and towards the middle of it, it started pouring. We live in a little bit older house which apparently can't hack a few minutes of rain because, the power went out....and it stayed out. for hours. despite the fact that I needed to be preparing and cooking a meal for some dinner guests we'd be having in an hour!

Well, the power didn't return for an hour, or two, or even three. We ended up ordering a pizza from Nick's Italian Kitchen (broccoli and chicken, YUM!)

Anyway, I love this photo. During the little power outage (and no rain, like I said, it only lasted a few minutes!) we decided to take the girls outside to play in our little sandbox turned kiddie pool. They loved it. They are TOTAL water babies. This is Vera and her little naked tootsies about to get in the water!

Project 365 - Day 2 - May 26, 2014

You may be wondering why I chose to post a picture of my two Siberian Huskies in their kennel...My reasoning is this: The only times they have to be in the kennel are when we are away from home (they tend to get into mischief if we leave them out, and thankfully they LOVE their kennel, so it works for all of us! lol) or at night when we're all in bed. Well, yesterday we were away from home!...We took a little trip to Staunton, VA with our new friend Jake (he's interning at the gym my husband manages) to go clothes shopping and bowling! It was fun :) We enjoyed some Chick-fil-A (and overindulged in some chocolate milkshakes) and just had an overall great day!....Meanwhile, these two cuties waited patiently for us to return home (don't worry, we weren't gone THAT long).

You may be wondering why one husky is wearing a tank top lol (and in the VA heat and humidity!) I promise we're not trying to give her a heat stroke or something!...She actually just had surgery last week to have a tumor removed and has to wear this "tank top" to keep the bandaging in place AND prevent our other husky from licking it (which she would NOT stop doing before the surgery).

Project 365 - Day 1 - May 25, 2014

I stumbled upon another photographer's blog when I was looking for information about skin tones etc. and she had posted about this thing called Project 365 where you post a photo (or photos) every single day which can sum up that particular day. Well, I decided that I'd like to try this little project, and what better day to start than a Sunday?!

Today was a great day (pretty much every Sunday is because it's the day my husband doesn't have to work at all, we get to go to church, we get to come home and relax as a family, and the weather on Sunday's always feels wonderful!!) I made some healthy Italian turkey & zucchini burgers for lunch and we watched 2 different redbox movies that we'd rented last night and didn't get to watch because we were to tired, lol. My husband played with the girls while I crocheted a newborn hat that I'm planning on using for one of my sessions coming up, and then we all went and played in the driveway for a little bit (which is what these pictures are about). I had to laugh because my (almost) 10 month old was the one sitting in the Cozy Coupe while my 2 1/2 year old was strapped to my husband's back in the baby carrier (should've been the other way around, right?!)

Family Vacation 5/15/14 - {Virginia Beach, VA}

My husband Ryan, daughters, and I were able to have a  fun time this past week because Ryan's parents came to visit us all the way from Washington state! We hadn't seen them in a year (this was the first time they met our 9 month old!) and so it was great for all of us!! They came on Monday and then on Thursday we took the 4 hour drive from our little town to Virginia Beach to be able to have a fun day of playing in the sand and water (although both of our daughters ended up hating the water because they were splashed in the face by the waves and decided that was the end of that! So, they ended up playing in the sand with their grandpa while my husband and I jumped through the waves for about an hour!)....Here are some photos of my beautiful in-laws as well as a few others of the family playing at the beach...
